Local Comfort Inn and Suites Recognized for Outstanding Service; Wins 3rd Consecutive Platinum Award 2017 – 2019 

In speaking with Brian Knopp of COMFORT INN & SUITES (located on Route 29 in Campbell County near Lynchburg Airport), it is soon apparent that hospitality services to him and his staff embodies more than managing a hotel – it is an expression of their passion to care for others and a dedication to making each guest feel like family.

The “Platinum Award” designation goes only to the top hotels within the brand and the Comfort Inn & Suites – Lynchburg is the only hotel in Virginia to be recognized with this honor.

This is the third consecutive year that the Comfort Inn & Suites has received this honor. In addition, the hotel has been ranked as the #1 Hotel in Lynchburg (out of 25 hotels) on TripAdvisor, the world’s leading travel site, receiving the “TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence”. The hotel was also recently recognized as the “Best Hotel in Virginia under $200” by msn.com.

Even with a positive leadership philosophy and a focused customer-service approach, the hospitality industry, like any other, faces challenges and changing trends. “There is always a need for workers trained in hospitality services,” said Knopp. “We have a great team, but it’s always hard to replace good staff when they move on to other opportunities. We also have a lot of local competition for staffing as well as seasonal occupancy.” Knopp encourages those entering the workforce to consider community college programs in hospitality as a good place to start.

Our New Sign of COMFORT!

Our COMFORT INN & SUITES in Lynchburg, Virginia was among the first hotels in the nation to order the new Comfort brand signage with was installed this week.

The Comfort hotels brand continues its United States expansion with new hotels opening this year from coast to coast. These hotels are the latest to showcase the new Comfort logo, unveiled last May as a capstone to the brand’s multi-year transformation. More than 700 Comfort hotels already feature the elevated look and feel. In addition, more than 170 hotels have installed new signs, while over 450 hotels are in the process of obtaining new signage.

“The renewed Comfort brand appeals to developers and a wide range of guests across the U.S.,” said Anne Smith, vice president, brand management, design and compliance, Choice Hotels.

New Look Symbolizes the Brand’s Bold Transformation

The Comfort brand revealed a new logo today to thousands of franchisees at Choice Hotels’ annual convention. The unveiling marks an important milestone for the brand which has been experiencing a renaissance since committing to change seven years ago.

“This redesigned logo serves as a beacon for the new Comfort. It’s more than a change of symbol, it’s a symbol of change,” said Anne Smith, vice president, brand management and design, Choice Hotels. “From new lobbies to upgraded guest rooms, Comfort hotels are being renovated across the country to deliver a more consistent, up-to-date guest experience. Together with our owners, we will have invested $2.5 billion in the Comfort brand by the end of 2019.”

Landor, a brand consulting and design agency based in New York City, created the logo which features vivid orange and yellow hues, and a rich blue color for the Comfort name.

“The design of the new logo reflects the brand’s warm and welcoming heritage and its refreshed, modern look and feel,” said Megan Brumagim, head of Comfort brands, Choice Hotels. “It’s the capstone of our transformation, inviting guests to check out the new Comfort.”

The new logo also represents an important shift for the brand across its locations, unifying the Comfort Inn, Comfort Inn & Suites, and Comfort Suites brands as one brand family, the way guests perceive them, according to consumer research.

The brand’s transformative journey began in 2012 with a review of all properties which resulted in the bold decision to exit more than 600 properties that were not up to increased brand standards. The brand then introduced Move to Modern, an initiative focused on property upgrades, and announced Comfort as the largest 100 percent smoke-free hotel brand in North America. Guests can expect all Comfort properties across the United States to have completed their renovations and updated their signage by the end of 2020.

These efforts have fortified the brand’s position as a leader in the upper midscale segment with over 1,800 properties across North America.

MISSING MAN TABLE & HONORS CEREMONY

As you entered our COMFORT INN & SUITES in Lynchburg, Virginia you may have noticed a special table; it is reserved to honor our missing men.

Set for one, the empty chair represent Americans who were or are missing from each of the services – Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard – and civilians, all with us in spirit.

Some of us were very young, or not yet born, when the Vietnam War began; however, all Americans should never forget the brave men and women who answered our Nation’s call and served the cause of freedom in a special way.

Let us explain the meaning of this table, and then join me for a moment of silent prayer.

  • The cloth is white – symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve.
  • The single red rose reminds us of the lives of these Americans….and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith, while seeking answers.
  • The yellow ribbon symbolizes our continuing uncertainty, the hope for their return, and our determination to account for them.
  • A slice of lemon reminds us of their bitter fate, captured or missing in a foreign land.
  • A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears of our missing and their families.
    The lighted candle reflects our hope for their return.
  • The Bible represents the strength gained through faith, to sustain us and those lost from our country, founded as one Nation under God.
  • The glass is inverted – symbolizing their inability to share a toast.
  • The chair is empty – they are missing…………….. (moment of silence)

Let us now raise our water glasses in a toast to honor America’s POW/MIAs, to the success of our efforts to account for them, and to the safety of all now serving our Nation!

RUN TO THE WALL

The COMFORT INN & SUITES in Lynchburg was selected to be a “host hotel” for motorcycle riders participating in the “Run To The Wall” heading to Washington DC for Memorial Day Weekend.

Founded by Vietnam Veterans, “Run For The Wall” recognizes the sacrifices and contributions made by ALL VETERANS who have served our nation. Some of the riders traveled from as far as California to participate and we were honored to them stay with us!
